Culture

Culture

Culture is complicated and varies on all scales, from country to country, from city to city, and from person to person. Therefore, most of the following articles will be further broken down into subsections on specific geographical regions or time periods, or will represent case studies that fit into a broader fold of the culture, rather than seeking to exemplify the culture in its entirety.

Costume and Accessories

Aside from during prayer and holidays, and in folkloric theater, few Radiaks wear their traditional costume. But there is still value in learning what Radiaks historically wore, and how the art of manufacturing these traditional garments remains an art passed down from generation to generation. Additionally, even modern Radiak fashion has retained (or reintroduced) elements of traditional dress.

Traditional Cuisine

Radiak cuisine has, more or less, adapted to the ingredients that are available and popular. Yet, although the Radiak faith has no universal dietary restrictions, traditional dishes retain some unique consistencies, such as the special valuation of organ meats and skin of animals, and particular dependency on root vegetables and hardy grains, like rye.

Music, Poetry, and Folktales

Like any nation, Radiak folktales often diffuse into songs and poems, and vice versa. Oral tradition is quite overlooked and unvervalued for its mutability and inconsistency, yet it is this very flux that helps to tell the story of a people, wherever they are in space and time.

Lifecycle Rituals

If nothing else holds two cultures together, then they are at least united by the shared experiences of birth, adulthood, marriage, and death. Many cultures have other, special rituals specifically for persons of a certain sex, or who have reached a particular age. The Radiak nation is no different.

Miscellaneous

This section is for anything else culture-related that has not been covered above. It is organized alphabetically.
